It's 2am on May 19th 2009 and I'm just finishing this... the new version of the PolyTicks site.
Where should I start? I put the last site up around Easter in 2008 - Long before Barack Obama won the presidency and took office, I was "ragin' against the mac-hine" bitchez. The first video I ever posted was this Bill Hicks rant about the insanity of Easter traditions... and it kind of set the tone for my commentary in general.
As a result of the last 8 years of mind numbing stupidity, it seems like the American public has learned how important it is to pay attention to this profession that shapes our lives. Over the years it has degenerated from a field of altruistic public service into some kind of capitalist bling circus where corporations buy powerful decision making through lobbying. Politics has become a sport where politicians will do or say whatever it takes to win, and take money from whoever will help them get into power. Ronald Reagan summed it up well when he said "Politics is the world's second oldest profession... I have come to realize that it bears close resemblance to the first." - of course he was no exception.
All that said I consider myself an independent (though common sense has a liberal bias these days) and the purpose of this outlet for me is to try as best as I can to frame current American policy debates in the way that they would effect me, and people like me. (people like me = dirty rich blingin' arrogant liberal assholes who eat caviar and roll our yachts through yer hoodz bitchez!! < sarcasm) I don't claim to be any more of an authority on these issues than anyone else, but my "blahg" is obviously way better than yours because you probably suck. And I spell it "blahg" because I'm a pirate... and lets face it... there's going to be a lot of "blah's" here.
So if you have a difference of opinion, links to share, or something to add to the debate, please feel free to do so. There's a sign up link somewhere... But if you just want to call me names behind the safeguard of the internet: hatemail@polyticks.org
