A friend of mine sent me this op-ed piece by Pat Buchanan the other day. Why I have friends that would send me articles written by Pat Buchanan is another story for another day.... In this article Pat makes the assesment that in his recen trip to Asia, President Barack Obama looked weak, and made America look weak, especially in regards to China. I asked him how he thought if he thought we should approach China in a beligerent fashion, seeing how as of May 2009 we owed them 772 billion dollars. He didn't really have an answer for that, but really thought that Mr. Buchanan's assessment of the president's trip was accurate because Obama came home with nil on Climate change.
Today I came across this little piece by Richard Wolffe that in essence says most of what the president is getting accomplished with these major global players isn't really happening at the photo op dinner parties the press is invited to. He instead handles business like this in more private meetings with these leaders, out of the public eye.
The right wing in America is already attempting to paint the Obama presidency as a failure and it's not even a year deep yet. It took the Republicans a lot more than a year to bring the country to the brink of disaster and it's going to take a lot more than a year to bring us back to full throttle but if you look at what's going on we are definitely moving back towards the right pathway... the pathway to capitalism that's executed intelligently with accountability. Not the sloppy criminalistic Enron style capitalism that was practiced during the Bush era, and almost ruined us.
